High Quality, Long-term Solutions

The Bio-Oregon fish feed line includes products that embrace the latest in raw material replacement technology, reducing our reliance on fishmeal and fish oil and improving price sustainability. Our feeds include a wide variety of ingredients sourced from various suppliers. At Bio-Oregon, we understand that we can only develop sustainable nutritional solutions if we are part of a responsible supply chain.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct enables us to engage with our suppliers on material issues relating to their operations and to set minimum criteria relating to environmental, social, and legal matters.

Over 90% of our suppliers have signed off on their agreement to comply with the Code, and it is mandatory for all new suppliers to sign. Supplier sustainability audits are performed with an increased focus on countries and ingredients that have been identified as ‘high risk’.

Many hatchery systems are open to the natural environment which exposes fish stocks to stresses that can negatively impact health, including extreme temperatures, handling, and a range of parasites and diseases. Bio-Oregon is committed to helping aquaculturists secure fish health through continued investment in R&D which helps to improve the sustainability of production by maintaining a high level of animal welfare and increase the efficiency of production.

Ensuring our own house is in order.  At Bio-Oregon, we focus on monitoring and recording five specific sustainability KPIs. For each of these, we set targets and discuss results on a quarterly basis to ensure that we are actively working towards meeting these targets.

We reduce withdrawals from local water sources by increasing productivity of water input, reducing wastewater discharges and their pollutant load, and reducing thermal energy consumption.

We make smart decisions about using newer, more energy efficient equipment and processes in our factories.

Health & Safety

We monitor our health and safety performance by registering work incidents and improving the safety of our work environment on-going.

We aim to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by recycling and reusing as much as possible. We also focus on reducing the number of products we purchase that cannot be reused or recycled.

CO2 Emissions

We continuously investigate options to change our energy sources to more sustainable options.
